QIANHUI YU

Qianhui (Chiya) Yu is a London-based 2D Animation Director and Illustrator specialising in frame-

by-frame animation. Her practice centres on crafting vibrant, imaginative worlds through expressive

character design, rich colour palettes, and hand-painted textures.

Drawing inspiration from nature, dreams, and the surreal moments of everyday life, her work

unfolds as whimsical visual narratives that blur the boundaries between the real and the unreal, the

familiar and the fantastical. Her imagery celebrates imagination as a space of emotional resonance,

playfulness, and quiet wonder.

A graduate of the Royal College of Art, Chiya works across a wide range of formats, including

music videos, branding, editorial, and advertising. She has collaborated with global clients such as

Adult Swim, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, Bloomberg Businessweek, Penguin

Random House, Faber Children, Coldplay, Hyundai, and Revolut.

Most recently, she created an animated clip for Coldplay’s track Jupiter, which was featured as the

Spotify Canvas for the song and used as the tour poster artwork.
